Chicago Fire Department
The Chicago Fire Department is the most important organization I have ever worked with. I began dialoguing with them before 9/11 on a fundraiser for a fireman who was killed in the line of duty. Here is what I learned about them: these people don't ask for help. It is not in their DNA. Their sole mission is to save and protect human life at the expense of their own. Theirs is a tight brotherhood. Here's what they learned about me: Firemen put out fires. I know how to light them. In a post 9/11 world, fire departments and the general public have to work harder and more diligently in sync. More money for more targeted training is mandatory. More money than a lot of municipalities can afford. The private sector has to be engaged and Ogilvy could help. It has been my honor to have helped on training films for high-rise rescue; fundraising events for various Fire Department charities; honoring fallen firefighters; 9/11 events; Medal of Honor events and most important, re-branding the CFD. I could never do what these people do. But I believe the consolidated efforts of the entire Ogilvy family are helping to protect the lives of our citizens.
